Ladies a save your hair mission... if you will

So I've been reading the Pioneer woman blog and I decided maybe a vinegar rinse is for me. I've tried baking soda with water as a shampoo to remove all of the chlorine from my hair (when I used to log in hours and hours at the pool), but now I think I'll try the vinegar. And I want all of the ladies to join me, not in the shower but on the mission to regain (or actually gain for the first time) beautiful shiny voluminous hair. (OH if you happen to be a long haired male...feel free to try this with us). Here is PW's recipe...

I grabbed a plastic bottle from my kitchen cabinet and filled it with a solution of half vinegar, half warm water. Then I grabbed some essential oil (a mix of lavender and rosemary) and added a tiny drop, just to kill the vinegar smell. In the shower, after I washed my hair (this is getting personal; sorry), I leaned back my head and poured it all over my scalp, letting it run down the length of my hair. Then I left it on for a couple of minutes while I fished all my other shower shenanigans, and rinsed it a final time.
In the week I've been regularly rinsing my hair with vinegar, here’s what’s happened:
* My girls have both separately said, “Mommy, your hair is so shiny.”
* My hair feels cleaner than it has ever felt.
* My hair feels thicker than it has felt in a long time. I think the vinegar is stripping away so much gunk that it’s finally feeling alive again.
* I smell faintly like pickles.
* But I’m okay with that for now.
The experiment is still continuing

Let me know how it works for you. And I'll keep you posted as well.

The latest snapshots into our daily life...

Luca being adjusted by Dr.Pederson (being born is tough on their little bones)

William getting his adjustment

Luca ready to go

Luca sitting in the biggest help to Mommy...the rainforest chair

William trying to be like daddy

Bright eyed after nap

Deep in thought at the park

Sound asleep after tummy time

Pouting about something...I can't remember why

Another strong boy...look at this he's holding his head up and checking out the digs...

A must see new park....

I kid you not this place was amazing! I had a hard time resisting the urge to play right along with John and William but hey someone had to keep an eye on Luca. John spied the park while taking a shortcut home, and has been hinting about it ever since. So we decided to hit it up after a stop at the chiropractor yesterday and the following pictures are the results of our adventure. Now you decide who the playground is really meant for...

Don't open your front door....

for salesmen or anyone for that matter that you don't know. Wednesday another woman was assaulted by the Northwest Promenade, which is basically a stones throw from my street. Here's the article as it appeared in today's paper.

"A 25-year-old Naples, Florida man was arrested on sexual assault charges after he barged his way into a Bakersfield woman's home and lewdly touched her, police reported.

The incident happened Wednesday at 2:18 p.m. in the 8700 block of Hoodsport Avenue just north of the Northwest Promenade shopping center.

The suspect, Lee Collins, was selling magazines door to door and stopped at the victim's home. She said she wasn't interested, but then Collins asked for a glass of water.

She left him with the front door open to go to the kitchen to get water. He came up behind her and put his hands inside her clothing, police said.

She objected and told him to stop, which he did. He left.

She called police who found Collins several blocks away and arrested him on charges of burglary, assault with intent to commit rape and sexual battery, police said."

Those of you that know my history know why this bothers me soo much. Just be careful, some people don't care if you have children, are overweight, thin, short, tall, beautiful or not. There are predators everywhere. Be careful ladies.

A Green Effort

So I decided that we haven't done enough in our daily life to reduce our carbon footprint. Yes we recycle, everything that can be recycled is in our home, yes I walk to the shopping center by my house instead of driving, yes I trip link when possible, yes we have switched to CFL's, and yes I turn off the power strip for the computer when it's not in use. SO what more can we do...well I'll tell you our latest ventures in being green:

1. John's garden... how is that green you ask, besides the color? Well when we consume the produce grown in our garden instead of buying it at the grocery store that means that we're not contributing to the need for trucks to ship produce, and we're putting less smog into our community ourselves by not driving to the store to get fresh produce.

2. John's compost pile... our horses help us make our own compost, and we've started adding the leftovers/trash from what we eat to the pile.

3. We bring our own bags when we shop.

John may not realize it but he really does the most towards being green. He thought of the garden and the compost while I only insisted on adding in the food remnants. It's really not that difficult to start but you have to stick with it. I really want to encourage all of you to green up your life start small if you want...every little biit helps. So why don't you all leave comments about how you're trying to be green.

My BIG boy ::sniffle::

Well William is officially 76 weeks. ::sniffle:: Watching him run around the park today I was struck by how big my "baby" has gotten. He's so independent and strong. It's almost overwhelming.

Luca the eve before his 14th day with us
Big brother
William was so shocked we let him hold Luca

It's an amazing thing to see...William has so much love to give. We let him hold Luca for a little bit, and he was so gentle and loving. When Luca started to fuss William started to pat his tummy...just like Mommy does. Awww!

Who's hand is creeping in?...

There's the offender...William!
